OEM throttle body - engine dies in neutral

My '91 Teg has the Injen CAI, Exedy flywheel, pistons bored over 0.25" and a full Tanabe catback exhaust with DC headers. It was running fine until I took it in for the 25K mi service. Now, the engine RPMs drop whenever I take it out of gear and it dies on me in traffic. It’s the original B18A. Whenever I make a turn, I have to blip the throttle like crazy to keep up the RPMs. People think I’m a wannabe ricer rocket racer. It’s embarrassing cuz I’m a 46 year old English teacher. Crappy Mustang GTs kick sand in my car’s face.
My mechanic told me it was some kind of control module in the throttle body that was really dirty and he said he replaced it, but it still dies.
What do I do?
:sipread:

my car did the same thing, i replaced my alternator and my pcv and adjusted my idle and that was that

I’m not sure what ur cause is yet but I’ll look and ask around about this and good luck though. What exactly did they do to your car to get it seviced? Read the list of what they did on the paperwork.

Note: Never pay for anything a shop say that it will pass or fix your problems because when it doesnt you will usually wont get your money back cause you sign for it. The funny thing at a shop is that you must really read all them little words at the bottom as most people just skip them and read the top or just sign and go. I never do that. i always ask is it going to fix my problems? if so then I will sign and what if it isnt the problem and you guys say it is and so now once install its not are you just gonna take it abck out? if they answer yes I would be like F**K U and off I go stop wasting my time…

r u throwing any codes? i had a similar problem and it was the o2 sensor.

Well, I’d have to take it to someone with an OBD reader, and if I do that then I’d like to take it to a different mechanic with lots of experience in Honda/Acura engines. I DID make a few tweaks to my ECU by shipping it to JET and then I reinstalled the ECU. It ran awesome when I got it back, but my problems started when I had the 25k mile service.

Do you guys recommend Inline4 in Garden Grove?
:dozing:

r u still obd 0? if so the ecu has a led that flashes the code when the car is on the on position but not started. just count the flashes. what about taking it back to where u got it serviced and rasing hell?

Yea take it back to where u got it serviced and ask or find out the problem then if its related to the service they done. Though you did sign the paperwork…

You are right!

I will try to find out what kind of codes the ECU is “throwin’”
I’ve taken it back to these guys 3 times already and they keep telling me it’s the pcv valve and the car still runs like crap.

Apparently, they think it’s my problem, so I’ll take it to someone who will get it done right the first time. I’m still OBD 0 by the way.

They don’t want to go thru the trouble of finding codes, and I don’t wanna go thru the trouble of dealing with clowns.

OEM throttle body - engine dies in neutral

I have a slightly modified '91 Teg w/ the original B18A. It has headers and the cold air intake. After I had my 24K service, the engine occasionally died in neutral. I took it back to the shop and I got the runaround. It was a mystery to them.

After I took it to another shop, they narrowd the problem to either the ECU or the TB. They looked at my receipt and told me that there was a good chance it was the TB since they (original clowns) cleaned it with a chemical flush.

So I purchased a new performance throttle body from Performance Center and I realized that they sold me the TB for the '92 Teg (Acura changed the design from '91 to '92) I have a crappy part that I can’t use and a crappy car that dies in neutral.

So, my question is: where can I get a performance throttle body that fits (EXACTLY) the 1991 Integra LS?

i’m not sure if this could be it, but is your throttle cable properly adjusted?

throttle cable

I’ll look into it, but my problems date back to when these clowns used a chemical to clean the TB. I know there is a coating that goes around the “butterfly” and I’m willing to bet that it’s gone when I get around to looking at the part.
