ImageShack seems to be down right now… But basically, you want to find somewhere in your bay that you can put it. Since I removed AC/PS on my ride, I had a bunch of room in the driver-front area. If the pics work (which they should sometime today), you’ll see where I put mine.

After you find where you want to put it, you’ll need an A/N fitting welded to your valve cover. If you look at the back of the cover, there is a plate on the inside, you want to weld your new fitting so it is getting air from UNDER that plate. Dont know what I mean? Look where the stock air fitting is located… You want it to be about the same.

It also depends on what kind of catch can you have though.

oh, well i thought they just connect to the pcv valve and you can block that valve port on the intake mani where the pcv connects too

Well, you ‘could’ do that… but on high-revving b-series motors, the whole point of a catch can is the fact that the oem designed system does not provide enough crankcase ventilation… hence using a bigger AN fitting than the stock system, not to mention keeping those gasses and oils out of your intake system.

Ideally you remove the ‘black box’ from the back of the block… plug the hole in the block, and weld the AN fitting to the valvecover and run your new can. Some systems actually incorporate the hole in the back of the block as a drain-back feature, so the catch can will provide a place for the gasses to escape, but any oil will drain back into the motor… the way I did mine was just running off of the fitting on the valve cover, with no return line.

oh i see. well i think im going to hook it upto my pcv valve. i still have my vavle cover breather hooked up to my valve cover though. i think having that hooked up is a good idea just to have fresh air streaming into the crank case .

Heh… Keeping the hose connected from the valve cover to the intake will still allow crank case gasses and oil to be sucked into your motor. This causes un-clean air and can ressult in a slight loss of power. Trust me, just run your catch can… the can allows the motor to breathe, and also gives it a place to spew those unwanted air/oils. Keeping a hose going to your intake negates the idea of a catch can, you’d only be getting half of the advantages.

is there a way i can hook up the valve cover breather and pcv valve up to a catch can

I suppose you could just run tubing from the valve on the valvecover to your can… But you have to buy the right can with the right size fittings.

This is the one my brother put on his B16… It runs to a catch can just like the one I showed pictures of on my car. The inner-diameter of the fitting is about 2.5 times the size as the stock fitting on the valvecover, thus being more effective in letting the motor breathe when hitting 9,300RPM… and as i’ve already said, gives a place for all those gasses and oil that are being flung around in the top end to go. Routing that stuff into your intake system causes some pretty bad build-up in the head and intake mani.

Though I must say,the setup I describe might not pass emissions/inspections in many states.

If you are really gung-ho about doing it yet retaining the stock valve system, you could just route from the PCV valve to the can… And also run the line from the valvecover to the can as well, you just need one with that many fittings etc etc.

if you want to keep the stock setup but just trap the oil, install the catch can in between the pcv valve and the intake manifold. if your engine is stock this is the best option without modifying a bunch of stuff.

here’s my setup but way overkill for a stock or semi stock engine.

pcv valve / oil catch can set up

so i want to hook up my oil catch can (b18a1 with b1 valve cover) i want to run the pcv valve (down by the fuel injectors) to the catch can and then from the can back to the intake manifold. however i have a b1 valve cover that has a plug for a pcv valve so i was wondering, why not add another pcv valve and run 2 of them that connect to a Y joint so i can run 2 pcv valves to my oil catch can and run the other line back to the intake. sounds pretty good to me. any thoughts?

You could do the same as above and vent your crankcase from above, or you could vent it from below as well.

On the back of your block, there should be two plugs that can be removed with a 14mm allen key. You’ll have to order a couple of npt fittings and washer from honda to replace the plugs then run the hoses to your catch can.

Here are the two plugs, fittings and washer with part numbers that you’ll need to order

And you’ll also need a catch can with two inlets with 1/4" npt fittings and 1/4" hose. Have fun!

I ordered the same moroso can as unified

thats interesting. i never knew about that. i think im going to run 2 pcv valves though, its somthing different and sounds like a fun project. the thing is, i dont have much free space in my engine bay so first i have to relocate my battery to the trunk. thatll free up plenty of space

yeah i didn’t know about it either until i started ripping my engine apart for my build and trying to figure out how to set up my pcv system. It’s the way the endyn breather kit is installed.

would it be better to put a rubber plug on the outlet where the pcv valve connects to and put a breather filter on the catch can? i just installed mine and im confused. seems as though there are several ways to go about installing one of thease
