Oil coated around spark plug wires!?!?

I just read nez’s post about an oil leak, and his sparkplugs being coated with oil. well i just remembered the other day when I pulled my sparkplug wires out they were COATED with oil. I just had my valve cover gasket replaced, as well as all the other gaskets and cam seals that have to do with the head. This was all done last month at ImportBuilders. Not only did my AEM FPR start leaking now i think there’s something leaking around the spark plugs!?

DAMN IMPORTBUILDERS! They have f*CKED hella **** up.

thanks guys

Sound like your spark plug grommets are bad and/or not sealing. That could be caused either by old grommets and/or the valve cover is torqued on wrong.

grommets, do you know what page of the helms that is on? is it easy to replace? thanx br

When you take off your valve cover they are the 4 rubber rings around each spark plug hole.
My helms is in the garage and I am WAY too lazy tonight to go get it, but I can tell you that it is in section 6 (cylinder head).
So I know the manual a little too well…

okay i see it in the helms, it’s 6-7.

so I pull the wires out, then I pull the plugs out, take the valve cover off, and the grommets should be sitting there waiting to get pulled out? Are they attached to the valve cover or the head. is it a straightforward replacement?

thanks,
Art

You dont have to pull the plugs out, just the wires and then pull the valve cover.
It is very straight forward and they just rest inside little cutouts on the valve cover.
