I want to replace my rusty and dented oil pan. It also has a striped oil drain plug and the pan gasket has been leaking for a while. As expected the OEM drain pan is discontinued. I found a Moroso drain pan that I am interested in but was wondering if anyone has used it. It’s price is about the same as an OEM oil pan.
I have one sitting in the garage. I like it because it has the bungs for either temp sensors or turbo, if that’s the direction you end up going.
Some people on HT have reported some leaking, so when I replace mine, I will be using the following gasket which has rave reviews: http://myhondahabit.com/index.php/myhondahabit-oil-pan-gasket.html
Good luck!
for future reference, when it comes to drain plugs an aftermarket option isn’t bad. in 99% of cases its better since you can get a magnetic drain plug that will trap some of the metal shavings in your oil instead of circulating them. as far as the moroso pan, I have one on my engine. I did not use a gasket. I used black rtv, followed the cure instructions on the package, followed the oem torque sequence and my pan does not leak. period… no oil from my pan. I would recommend the moroso pan. after installing it, I felt an immediate difference. the car just felt smoother as if it wasn’t fighting as hard to use its power.
