i have this leak idk where it could be coming from. there is some oil dripping from the bottom of the distributor where it mounts to the engine. The oil is redish brownish color. In the circle is where i see oil dripping. everything there is “wet” as you could see in the picture. i think it drips all the way to the bottom of the transmission.
so would anybody have any idea where it could be leaking?
On the distributor you have one o-ring that is on the portion that slides into the head. You also have a shaft seal on the inner portion of the distributor and ofcourse the cap gasket. Most likely you will only need to replace that o-ring. Make marks to keep your ignition timing correct before you remove it or just re-time your engine after. Now if that o-ring doesn’t fix your oil leak and you have quit a bit of oil on the inside of the distributor cap, then it is probably the shaft seal. Oh, and it is replaceable. GL

im sorry could you show me with a pic of the o ring i have to remove on the distributor? i have a spare distributor and im looking at it and idk what part is the oring. how would you put it on also. im sorry im not skilled as a mechanic.
Its on the end of the distributor that goes into the cyliner head. Just look at it, its un-missable.
Remove the old one, install the new one. Cake work.
thanks. i see the black ring at the end. hmm i just ordered the part from autozone so i hope it fixes it.
