oil in the spark plug well??? what's wrong?

i checked on my G3 teg today and there was a good amount of burnt oil on the plug wires… i then proceeded to check the sparkplugs. to my surprise the spark plugs were not even tightened! i mean i could have bitten on the dam plugs and twisted them off with my teeth! they were all loose! and to make matters EVEN worse they were all AUTOLITE plugs! ahh, so i did what any car lover would do. I went and picked up some NGKs and gapped them to .44 etc etc. i don’t have a small torque wrench (but i never used one for plugs before) so i tightened them sliggtly by hand. Hopefully new properly tightened sparkplugs would solve the problem? if not what do you think?

If you have oil on the top of your spark plugs in the spark plug well, then your spark plug seals between your valve cover and your head are leaking. They cost $2 a piece to replace and you need 4 of them. May as well replace the valve cover gasket at the same time. Torque on the plugs is either 156 inch-lbs. or hand tight and then another quarter turn. Hope this helps.

when i take off my valve cover i’ll see the spark plug seals in plain sight? or do i have to search?

You will see them in plain sight either on the circle or on your valve cover when you take em off.
