Oil leak. In my trunk.

Can you guys please give me some ideas on how to clean this mess in my trunk. i left some leftover oil in my trunk when i did a tune up then a couple days later when i was going through my car i found this puddle of oil.

I’ve been trying to clean it with rags, towels, and scrubbing the S*** out of it but noting’s really working. any help would be appreciated thanks.

this may not be the best way so its up to you on how bad and fast you want this gone…

I raised the rear and looked under the car for and clear areas then after cleaning out most of the oil I had from a itr motor I had in my trunk for a month and a half, yes I couldnt find anyone to help me take it out.
I got a skinny phillups screw driver and punched a hole for the oil to drain out… then drove to the local self carwash and sprayed everything with degreaser and hosed it down and all the oil and water just drained out… dried it all up and closed the hole with jb weld and done.
make sure you dont punch a hole in your muffler when driveing the screw driver in from the top…

Try cat litter, baking soda or wood dust. Let that shit soak the oil up and scoop it out when it coagulates…

Soak it with simple green, fill it until it covers the oil. Leave it for a couple hours or over night with the hatch open. Then scrub the crap outta it.

should already be a hole under some of the stuff stuck to the trunk, (sound/vibration insulation?) there were two in mine i just had to poke through the stuff.
just look for it in the logical places… where water would pool.

as a side note, there are plastic plugs at the bottom on both sides near the brake lights… also in logical places where water would pool. I only found them after making holes in the dark to drain all the water that came in through the sunroof drains.

“coagulates” ohh man that word maked my insides turn…

dawn dish soap with water. they use it on oil spills and animals for a reason!

LOL… guess I’m not the only one that finds that word amusing. I giggle like a giddy lil slutty schoolgirl whenever I hear or say that word :giggle:

been there done that…

I had a full quart leak in the trunk…pain in the @#%… It actually eats into the sound deadening material an makes gooooo. I used simple green first but to dry it out I used acetone and a bag of rags… not fun but gets it done. good luck

you might wanna try a hammer and a screw driver

that might help who knows youll never know till you try :burnout:
