oil leak?

i’ve been having a oil leak for awhile now and it’s been gettin expensive since i run royal purple. my car only leaks wen i drive it or at least when i park it. i leak out about a quart every 2-3 weeks. i already changed my oil pan gasket but that didnt help. could this be my rear main seal or crankshaft seal? and would changing my oil to high mileage oil or to 10w-30 conventional stop this leak temperarily untill i have the time to take off my tranny.

There is no way for anyone to know where your oil is leaking from until you tell us where it is leaking from. There are many places oil can leak.

Replacing the oil pan gasket isn’t going fix your leak if it wasn’t leaking from there to begin with.

No, putting in different oils isn’t going go help.

Clean the engine and find the source of the leak. No point in taking off parts if you don’t need to.

look for the highest point of oil leakage (obv)

its coming from around the flywheel then drips off one of the bolts on the oil pan.

ooohh. could be rear main seal. but you’d better make sure, as the transmission would need to be removed for access

another note is to inspect the inside and under the distributore since you could have the distributore O ring leaking and seaping down to your tranny. Also make sure you know what kind of oil it is since it could be tranny fluid leaking from the axle seals. And check the rear breather chamber, the black box next to the oil filter.
base on what you noted and if it is motor oil then start by inspecting the breather chamber then save money for a new clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, throw bearing and pilot bearing. oh and dont forget tranny fluid and new rear main seal if you still have the leak…

always buy honda oem gaskets for these types of repairs, last thing you need is a bad rear main seal to go out in 1 yr.

it’s motor oil and what u mean by rear breather chamber?

its number 2 on the diagram.

i’m missing #5 on the diagram.
about 2 inches of the end of the hose broke off during a pcv valve change, might have lost the whole hose since then. it has been 2 years or so since i broke it.
tried more than a few times to get to it but haven’t had much luck with my big hands/arms even with the oil filter off.

mine doesn’t let much get out as far as oil (more likely oil vapor coming out and condensing on the engine and running down), but the breather box is a damn good spot to start if you think the oil is coming from around that area considering price & ease of checking compared to other parts.

you migh thave to remove the driver side axel and half shaft to reach that hose and replace it. you should try to get it fixed soon as you get a chance, your engine is suffering a lil on the performance side.
