i have some oil leaking from underneath the distributor. i’m guessing it might be the distributor o-ring? i know its not the valve cover gasket because i don’t see any oil leaking from there at all. also its not the cam seal because theres no oil leaking from there either. the oil seems to be leaking from where the distributor mates to the engine. any ideas/solutions?
seems like you’ve diagnosed your own problem. replace the o-ring and see if that doesn’t solve the leak. may also want to check the valve cover gasket as well, as that could be a possible culprit.
another quick question. lets say i mark the location of the distributor, this way i can line it up without having to use a timing gun. how acurate is this method. what i mean by this is, make a mark on the distributor housing on all three mounting points and the engine and line it back up when remounting?
hehe anyone in the bay area(san jose, santa clara…etc.) wanna help a fellow G2 out?? i’m not too confident in replacing the distributor o-ring in fear of messing up my timing. shoot i’ll even buy you a 6-pack of beer! hahah
it’s the dist. O-ring.
yes it’s pretty close if you mark it or even perfect. even if you are off at least you’re still within that -5 +5 timing mark. when you mark it, use a very fine line so that way you could get it close as possible.
yeah i think marking it with a line is ok. my mech did that and it still feel the same. but if u want to be certian then just time it.
cool, thanks for the reply guys, i’ll give it a shot with the markings and see how and if it works.
