oil light blinking!! due to oil pan dented??

hello guys im having a little technical issue here lol… today my dumbass self— drove over a rock at my firends yard! and due to my car being low it dented my oil pan a little… so after the dent issue! my oil light came up! while i sit still the car (not moving) stays solid red!!! while i drive ( the car moving) it blinks! on and off!!

so now my question is ??? the dent is not deep at all but its a litle wide about 6 inches wide and its right in the middle! behind the 17MM bolt that releases the oil! and about half inch deep maybe :cross:

the engine drives perfect and no knocks or anything so far.! but i decided to not drive it anymore till i get this issue fix!

do you guys think banging the dent out can fix?? the issue or should i replace the oil pan? and also where is the oil pressure sending unit located in a 1993 acura integra (b181a?)

the light was perfectly normal(off all the time) but once i dented the pan it started to blink!

any suggesion would help! thanks!!

that sucks. a little dent shouldn’t cause an oil pressure issue. unless its a real big dent and goes rite up to the pickup… your oil pressure sensor is to the left of the oil filter.

Yes, the sensor is in the back of the block by the oil filter.

Yes, a dent can cause the oil to slosh around and not be picked up by the oil pump pick-up tube.

You can remove it and try to bang it out from the inside, but try to get it as smooth and even as possible.

If that doesn’t work, get a new pan. Its not worth fucking around and starving the motor. The light comes on at 7-9psi, which is pretty damn low pressure. Can kill a motor quickly with low pressure.

and make sure that the pickup is still ok because there inst much room between the pickup and the oil pan, its only a few mm.

I would check your oil pressure switch to make sure its still good.
Check oil level too, you never know may be low o.0.

I resently had the same issue, with my oil light flashing.
Installed an EXTERNAL oil pressure gauge and had good prussure all aound.
@15 psi at idle and @ 80 at driving range.
The light flashes non stop when I drive.

After RESEARCHING RESEARCHING!!!
I concluded that I have a bad ICU, yet the car still drives fine, except few electrical things are out of wack lol.
No rear window defrosy, no intermidiate wiper speed, and the pesty oil light flashing on the dash.

My .02cents.

It sounds way to coincidental to have an oil light flashing after denting the oil pan. Can nearly guarantee that the pressure sensor didn’t just go bad at the same time.

do not drive this car until you get that pan off and have a look at the pick up, and for what it’s worth, just replace the pan with a decent used unit. oem pan gasket as well

I’d say oil pick up got bent in the process and it’s not sealling correctly hence the solid oil light at idle but bliking while driving.

My oil light was blinking a while back. Did an oil change and new filter and it hasnt flashed since. I’m guessing because I hadnt changed the filter in a while and it was probably obstruced.

^lol. . . You know its 3k miles, not 30k right?

lol ya i know but thats pretty much common sense

if you neglect the filter, it’s designed to be bypassed completely if it gets too dirty/plugged.
that way you’re getting unfiltered oil to all your crucial lubricating points. like bearings and whatnot. you don’t want unfiltered oil in those clearances
so don’t neglect your oil changes!

^^ ya for sure. I changed filter and oil every 3-7k when i was in seattle and had my parents garage, but i moved to vancouver last year and i really dont have anywhere to work on my car and i dont really want to change oil out on the street right next to traffic. that would just look weird lol.
