Oil light coming on

hey guys once again help:) My oil warning lite is coming on; i checked the oil level and was kinda low but not low enuf for the lite to come on in my opinion; anyway i put some oil in it and after i’m runing for about 20-25 min. the lite comes back on again(kinda flashing ) any sugestion on what could it be? Also anybody here in ATL I’m looking for a good shop where to take my car(I’m getting ready to rebuild my engine). Thanks!

anybody with any sugestion? please…

Maybe a faulty oil pressure sensor? In the Helms manual it says to take out the OPS and connect an oil press. guage. It should be 10psi at idle or a min. of 50 at 3000 rpm. If the readings are ok replace the sensor. If the readings are way low or nothing check your oil pump.

thanks tegman, I’ll check on that as soon as i get home.

Glad I could be of help!

Bad news for me: my oil pump is wasted!!! Oh H&LL!!! well time for rebuild! any sugestion?

I had a feeling that it might be the pump that’s busted. there’s not much u can do except replacing it, can’t rebuild those things.

oh yeah I know… i was refering to my engine… i think i’m gonna go ahead and rebuild it; I’m wondering if my cai got something to do with ( i don’t have the by pass valve…)

Oil light on - not a pressure problem!!

I wish I would’ve found this site earlier so I could post this…

I have a '90 Integra with 135k miles. Oil light started coming on. Replaced the Oil Pressure Sensor…still on. Uh oh! Is the pickup screen in the oil pan clogged? Oil pump?

NIETHER!!!

I hooked up a mechanical oil pressure gauge ($12 at your local auto parts store, and a T connector). I put the T connector into the engine block where the OPS goes, then I hooked the OPS to one end of the T, and the mechanical pressure guage to the other end of the T. Started the car, oil light on, 15psi pressure indicated on the mechanical guage at idle (good - book spec is 10), ran the car up to 3k rpm mechanical guage say 70psi (good - book spec is 50). Oil light still on.

So, the problem cannot be lack of oil pressure. Must be an electical short somewhere. I’m still hunting. IF I did have oil pressure problems the car would’ve been fried by now considering I drive it daily.

I hope I save you some money…

thanks bro… you’re right probably some electrical thing… cause I’m driving the car on a daily basis and by now the engine woulda been gone…l anyways I’m taking it for rebuilding in the next couple of weeks(I’m still researching for some mods to add) so thanks! :stuck_out_tongue:

someone let us know what causes this problem, ive done a search and this is the 6th post of this problem…I have the same problem…

There was a thread on this problem back in March. The previous owner of my car actually posted there as the car has the same prob. He installed a oil press.gauge and everything looked fine, so it was blamed on faulty electrical stuff.

It is not an uncommon prob in our tegs.
