my cousin’s teg is leaking oil the oil pan bolt is completely stripped there is no hope. i tried a new acura bolt it stripped the new bolt can i retread the oil pan or do i have to get a new oil pan???
You can try a slightly larger bolt if that’s possible…but make sure it’s not so big that it gets lodged in there and never comes out.
OVERSIZE BOLT
You can get special drain plug bolts that are sized for stripped holes and from what I’m told they work flawlessly 98% of the time.
dude i tried everythign to fix it and in the end… i go ta used oil pan and got it replaced. dot’ waste money on the oversize stuff. i’m speaking from experience
Yeh, Im with lodoss, Its just one of those things that have to be done properly… I cant tell you how many hondas ive seen with this problem, the problem is people seem to do up the plug so tight it just @#$% them…
That happened to mine. The dealer retapped the hole at a slightly larger size and replaced the bolt with a legend one. works great. they didn’t charge me, I guess they felt guilty about stripping it in the first place.
dude dealer always fuk up ur drain nut…I brought in my ex’s accord to change her oil and they try to blame it on me for fukin up the nut…and i told them that their dumba$$ mechanics where the only 1 doin the oil change…and they shut up really quick…then my bitchin began…lol
Another alternative to an oversize bolt is to take off the oil pan and get a nut welded to the inside of the pan - voila - you will have a new thread to put your oil pan drain bolt into . . .
