changed the oil and put a new drain plug and washer on, and now it leaks is there a reason why? its tightened but i can keep twisting it
If it was truly tightened then you wouldn’t be able to keep twisting it.
Sound like you stripped the threads on the oil pan and or drain plug.
good luck.
our stock oil pans are weak, easy to strip from what i’ve seen.
im using a toggle plug myself until i can replace the pan or weld a nut on the inside or outside like this http://classic.artsautomotive.com/HondaOilPan.htm
one way to prevent it, is to use a fiber or rubber washer rather than the metal ones and not over tighten it.
^ and use a torque wrench!
check the threads on the plug. they’re a softer metal than the pan bung, so it usually strips before the pan does
- 1 on what welfare said i know because ive stripped a plug in the past
The drain plug on my current D16y8 is stripped to all hell. However, with about 5 layers of teflon tape and some honda bond around the edge of the plug, no leaks.
Of course, this is just temporary.
