I am doing an oil pan repair and I’ve done one before and they are easy. I just don’t remember if i have to take part of the headers off to get the oil pan out? Also what are the torque specs on the oil pan bolts?
Thanks

if you have a 2 piece header then yes, you will need to remove the lower part.
torque specs can be found in the FSM which i am assuming that you are not using…
FSM?? I have a manual but I will have to see if I can find it… Thanks
FSM=factory service manual
91 Factory Service Manual states to torque oil pan bolts to 9 lb-ft. Tighten the bolts in two steps and torque the bolts in a criss-cross pattern. Check out the web site myhondahabit.com for parts and a video on oil pan gasket replacement. I need to replace my oil pan gasket and am interested in their gasket and stud kit. Anyone have any experience using their gasket?
Yes it will definitely have to come off. Below are the torque specs from my FSM but personally I do 10mm bolts by hand and torque them by feel.
Stick with the OEM pan gasket…
Yes the header has to be dropped, and as mentioned, the torque spec is 12NM or 8.7ft-lb.
Use an inch-lbs torque wrench, not a foot-lbs one.
I have a 91 idk if it’s like this on all da don’t forget there’s like a plate attached to that transmission side that covers 2-3 oil pan bolts don’t forget to remove it to get those bolts out
Yup. Transmission support brackets and flywheel cover need to be removed when accessing the pan.
Not sure if my manual was bad but it didn’t tell me that I had to remove the bracket and flywheel cover
The flywheel cover has a few protrusions that cover one or two of the oil pan bolts…
I think you can do it without removing the transmission brackets, but I’m not positive.
Weird that your manual didn’t say that though.

Don’t confuse the bolt head (wrench) size and bolt size. 10mm bolts are roughly 3/8".
Any fellow G2IC members have any experience with http://myhondahabit.com/ gasket kits???
They seem legit…and have positive reviews. I just replaced mine with a new OEM one and still getting one little drop of oil leak.
did you check the pan? i usually lay it on a flat surface to make sure it’s relatively true
and a skim of silicon on both sides of the gasket

anyone with feedback on this my honda habit gasket/gasket kit?
One of the best investments I’ve made with this car. And you know I’ve made plenty of investments on this pig hahaha. I went with the gasket/stud kit… talked my buddy into doing it also. We are happy with it. That is my go to pan gasket from now on.
well, i guess i’ll order it next time around…about to get a oil pan gasket from the dealer tomorrow, but that all studs idea is dope…but how does it tighten…you have to put a nut on the back too?
The studs have Allen heads, like arp head studs. Just thread then in all the way. Then you just use some loctite on all the ones with open ended holes.
ahhh gotcha…thanks man
