here is the story, just got my car back from the shop to fix a “no start” issue which turned out to be the ign coil, so while it was there I got them to do an oil change…I got the car back and put no more than 100km on it when I was cruising the hwy at 120kmh with the cruise control engaged and the engine light came on, car hiccuped and the tach went nuts and the engine completely shut down…I pull over right away and check the oil and its full…but it appears to me that there was no oil being pumped to the rest of the engine…my question is if an oil filter came apart internally and blocked the passages would this cause oil starvation? because before this the car ran like a dream for the past 25,000km with regular oil changes using a filter other than the brand the shop used.
Now the kicker of all this was it happened at 4am after I just worked 8hours and was dead tired…and the tow cost me 60bucks that the shop better damn well pay me back for…my fear is that my B17 is toast cuz it wont start up anymore at all and when it cranks it sounds like there is no compression going on.
well its sitting at the shop that did the initial work right now as I live in an apartment and have nowhere to work on the car not to mention my tool chest is like an hour away at my mom’s place…gotta wait till monday to hear from the shop…again!
well here’s the update…engine is seized! they dont know what happened…they guess the oil pump failed or whatever…so basically now I’m stuck without a car…well I have a mint shell of a DB2 without an working motor…modays just got worse!
well i’m nowhere near home so I cant have it at one of my shops but basically they said the cams werent moving so my guesstimation is that the head is seized due to the oil starvation and the belt skipped a million teeth or broke…so, I’m lookin for a type r motor to swap in now
