I ran into a problem where I thought I had low oil pressure cause my oil light was on (always). I did some reading and found an easy way to check if the oil pressure was ok without buying an actual oil pressure gauge kit.
With the car off run a 12v tester (with light) from the oil pressure switch to your battery(positive terminal) and the light on the tester should be ON.
Turn the car on and the light should be OFF.
Now… assuming the switch is functioning properly this tells you the oil pressure is fine.
If you want, replace the switch and recheck with the above steps (8 bux at autoparts store)
After the new switch is installed and the light still stays on with the car running I suggest getting it looked at ASAP.
Thanks hope this helps.
