Oil Pump Gasket/Seal

Can the timing belt of my B18A1 get contaminated with oil, if the oil pump gasket/seal needs to be replaced?

Part #20 in the following illustration is the part that I’m concerned with, correct?

Sorry for the extremely newby questions, just trying to get my DA9 running reliably.

It’s more likely the crank seal that’s leaking. It sits inside the timing cover.
But to change that cover, it’s basically the same length of time/labor as it is to do the timing belt. Plus pulling the oil pan.
It’s not gonna be cheap. Seeing as how you’d want to do the belt, water pump, tensioner and oil pan gasket as well while you’re in there. It’s probably about a 3-4 hour job. Although a shops book time will be longer than that

You don’t need to pull the oil pan to change seal #20 in the illustration.

nobody said you did

None of my questions have been answered.

20 is the crank seal, not pump cover gasket.
and yes, the belt can become contaminated if it’s leaking

Ohhhh, I see now. My mechanic told me that I needed a new oil pump gasket, when he is really talking about the oil/crankshaft seal. Thanks for the help!
