I have a jdm b20b low comp that runs great. For some reason whenever i start it up after its been sitting for about an hour or more, it sounds like its starved for oil. I can hear the knocking sound for a good 2-3 seconds then it goes away and runs fine. No knocks through the rpm range and if i start it up within an hour of turning it off it doesnt do it. Any suggestions. I just switched to synthetic thinking mine was breaking down too fast but no luck. I run 5w-30 mobile one and a fram filter. Anyone have any ideas why it does this. Its getting embarrassing and im worried about the motor.
switch to 10w see what happens.
i did and still no luck.
has it ever had a compression test done? are you noticing excess leaking or a low dipstick in regular intervals? and how old is the oil pump just out of curiosity.
no comp test yet. Im gonna do one soon. There is a small oil leak from either the rear main seal or the oil pan but i always keep the oil level up where it is supposed to be. The engine only had 36,000 miles on it so i assume its the original oil pump.
