Ok, I'm an idiot. I asked this under 93B18's post...

Sorry for reposting this but how much HP does an LS VTEC produce (if any)? Is it just for torque? Forgive me if I sound like an ignoramus, I’m just not too familiar with the specs. And about how much would it cost? My motor has 150+ miles on it but its still strong. Im buying my B16 in Feb cuz I was gonna do a complete swap, but now u guys got me thinking. Should I just swap the heads (I know its not that easy). Will one of you experts help me out? Thanks and Happy New Year!!!

Sorry to say this… but all the numbers that you’ll be requesting will vary with, what parts you use, how much you willing to spend, was it put together correctly, and well just plain luck. there are no set in stone numbers of HP and TQ with ANY set up… Don’t believe what people tell u , esp when they say, " Yah man… with LS VTEC u can get 200whp!!! i saw it on the internet!!!" Sure, u can… i;ve seen it… but grant u they spent $$$ for that 200whp… u can;t just slap on a head and call it a day. Regardless if your motor “feels” strong. 150K miles is 150K miles… hell my 195K LS feels strong… building up a motor rather than simply replacing worn parts is the best way, by this i’m meaning forged or higher compression pistons. forged rods, head work, well u get the idea. and actually it just come down to how much you willing to spend. and then finding a shop to do it if you don’t how to do it yourself.

Good answer, good answer.

Hey Robbie, any more free spam offers? Let me know dude! Ha!

I see the LS/V in teg tips, is it really difficult to do myself? Oh, And thanx for responding.

remember how that person did his LS/Vtec is how he did it. people have lots of ways of doing the same thing. If u feel comfortable enough to do it yourself, then by all means, but if you are not mechanically inclined, find a shop that has done it or someone close to you who has. it’s not as easy as simply following directions. the key actually is the machine work needed to prep the head for the block. and making sure that your feeding your head and block with sufficent oil when VTEC hits and remembering not to rev it to the moon ( like 8000+ rpm ). LS/VTEC makes power there’s no denying that fact. it helps to have someone guide u through the process. take your time and research some more, i wish the best of luck and i;m sure me and any others on this board will be more than willing to help fellow member out.
