Ok, I'm pretty sure its my Main Fuel Relay...

For those that haven’t read the other post, when I try to start my car, it will start and run like normal, but only for about 2 seconds and then it slowly dies. Well, its doing it almost every time now, so I’ve had the chance to narrow down the problem.

The first time I start the car, I can hear a relay click on, then off and the car starts. When I try to start it the second, third and fourth time, there is no sound of a relay clicking. I’ve put my hand on the relay that I hear, and through that method have figured out thats the relay that is clicking. Its the clicking that you hear when your Check Engine Light comes on, then turns off after 3 seconds when you turn the car on, but don’t start it.

I’m pretty sure this relay is my Main Fuel Relay. But before I go out and lay down the cash for another one, I just want to make sure there isn’t something else I’m not thinking about.

And the only way I can start my car now is to start her, then rev her up to around 4,000 rpms and keep her there for a few seconds. I can still hear her try to die, but because the revs are up, she comes back to life after only about 500 rpms of dieing. Then she runs fine.

all you have to do to fix a main fuel relay is to re-solder every (about 6) connections inside of it and you’ll be good for another 10 years!

'takes about 10 minutes to remove and open, 5min to re-solder and 10 minutes to re-install

it’s useless to buy a new one!
