Okinawa XSi Build

All “Y” plates. That last pic of the group was at the beach owned right outside of gate1 cant remember the name though. Question for ya, have they still drag race on sundays right down that straight in front of that beach starting at the second light if you tunr right out of kandena gate1? What about friday and saturday night drifting down at port on the back side of kinser? Also do they still drift out at the island by the naha airport?

Also are you airforce? If so what squadron? My old sup is there right now. I am hoping to maybe take a trip out there this summer and stay at his place. Damn I miss japan brah.
Back in 2006/2007, it took 18 months for my agent in Japan to find the XSI I wanted to import.

DA_all_day your car is the nicest one in the picture, I think.
yea, i got my car off of goo-net and the time in between an xsi being posted is about 6-8 months. as soon as this one showed up i contacted the dealer and did what i had to do.

but thanks man, that means a lot. the da didnt really get any love out there, people looked at me when i pulled and that was it. all the attention was focused on that white sil80.

yea all y plates. there was only a small group of us that knew about the shoot and i dont think the locals really care about that kind of stuff. the pictures were taken at kadena marina. the drag races are on thrusdays and weird you would mention that. we had a death on that drag thursday night. the guy got ejected, died, and his car burst into flames. it was really bad. i was on my way to work that night and i saw the aftermath with all the fire trucks and stuff. apparently he was a really good dude. so i dont think anyone will be racing out there for a while.

yes, i am airforce. i work in 18 EMS. its on the flight line. if you do come out here in the summer you should definitely let me know and you can see the da in person. it will look a lot different by then…

heres a picture i took today going to ikea (e-kay) island and some from the magazine photo shoot i went to. all the pictures from the shoot are still being chosen and edited so when theyre done i’ll post them here. i also got some gopro footage of the tougue but i wanna edit it and all that so it could be a while and my xsi decal made it in time for the shoot. enjoy…

definition of clean.

Thanks man, i spent 3 hours the day before washing and detailing and 2 hours the day of the shoot doing it again. I almost didnt want to drive it.

I thought it was a toy car at first.

me too. it looks like a toy here

How did he wreck? It is damn near a mile and a half with just a long but not sharp in the slightest left curve then an identical right and ends at the lawsons? Neither sweeper is sharp enough to slide out on even at the fastest of speeds? Also weird that they switched to running on thursdays. Still mostly locals that run down it?

would you believe that is an untouched photo? the guys camera was crazy looking and just by looking at it i can tell you its expensive.

no idea, he may have been weaving in and out of traffic while racing and lost control. who knows? mainly locals race. i dont think an american would dare street race only a few hundred feet from the gate of the base. that would be stupid… it doesnt stop us from watching. things here in okinawa are pretty bad for us though. with all the crazy stuff going on, we have a stupid curfew in order that says we cant be off base past 2300, no alcohol can be consumed or purchased off base will on base sales ending at 2300, and if you were to go ANYWHERE that has alcohol in it including convenience stores you need to have a “battle buddy”. theres more to it but thats basically the gist of it.

This car…I love

nice pics!

Thank you both
i just left okinawa back in august. i spent 6 long years stationed there and i only saw one da the entire time i was there. where in the mainland did you acquire this one if you dont mind me asking?!?!?!?!?

the car is clean by the way:up:

to everyone on this thread thinking that you will be in honda heaven when you hit okinawa you are sadly mistaken. i can vouch for da_all_day. most american drivers on island go crazy and buy skylines, 180’s(nissan 240sx), and toyota mark 2’s to drift. the honda scene is non existent out there even to japanese drivers. most junk yards dont even carry honda vehicles. if they do its mainly a kei car or a van. if you go to a parts store, they will tell you that they have to order it from mainland japan and you are paying a lot of money for it.
Just realized i completely over looked your post. Sorry about that.

But, i forget the name of the city but the dealer is calles deeps japan. They sell nothing but lightly to heavily modified hondas. Their online lot is crazy.

Where did you see this da? Are you sure 100% it was a da? Was it a y plate? I need to know. I thought i was the only only one on island with the car.

And yes, the car ‘‘scene’’ out here is dumb. Nothing but s chassis, skylines, and those damn b4’s. There more b4’s here than civics in california. Its nuts. The only Honda drivers are people with an itr or the super occasional s2000. Which ive only seen 1 y plated s2k and its an old man that drives to and from work.

Thats because in all honesty hondas are not really that performance oriented or have tons of easly netted potential when you are talking sr20’s, rb’s, 1 and 2 jz’s. Plus what is more fun to drive, fwd or rwd, honestly? Not that I am knocking the honda’s, hell I own one, but I also own a 370z sport package, and now that thing is fun to drive. I was just out and the roads have a thin layer of black ice over them, nothing funner than having a powerful RWD or AWD platform with narley exhaust in a big ass industiral yard with black ice everywhere.

The honda trend here in the USA will die come January 1st 2014 and what you see in okinawa will be here in the states.

Yes it was a DA. A couple of years back I saw a kanji plate on 58. I freaked out because that was the first one I had ever saw on online but I think it was an old lady driving it. Those b4’s are everywhere lol and so are the altezza’s. There was a silver s2k that a SSgt was driving. I guess he finally left the island.

How long have you been on island? You say that you work over at 18 EMS. Are you at the engine test building?

I still have a bunch of friends…military and locals, they tell me that it is crazy out there right now.

ah… i see. im sure i’ll never see that car again.

i’ve been here about a year. ems is the shops like sheet metal, egress, metals tech, phase. im in phase. we rip apart, inspect, repair and re-assemble an f15 in 8 days.
the island is nuts. people are getting in trouble left and right and some squadrons are on lock down because of the 1 or 2 idiots that fuck shit up. theres a curfew, prohibition is in effect for off base, the buddy system is in full swing, it makes living here suck. where did you work?

wow seeing your car makes me want to get my project going again:) very very clean:up:
