this is it. my build thread. lets see how this works out. this will be my first build thread but i’ve seen enough of them to know how this works. i maybe should of waited until after i actually GET the car in my driveway to start this but, i am doing things now for this car so i think this is a good time.
this is how my 91 xsi sits currently. i am in wait for the jci to be finished. it got here from mainland on thursday. i am VERY confident when i say that this is the only one on island. here in japan the da is a very rare car and here in okinawa, old cars are almost non-existent because of the salty air eating cars with rust. so my assumption of this da being the only da on okinawa has some strong ground to it. once i’m driving around i’m sure if there is another one then the owner will hear about me.
i dont really have any big plans for it other than to make it as clean as possible. its a little rough as it stands but only if your up close can you really see the imperfections. the mod list is pretty much stock except for the tanabe hyper medallion exhaust and it possibly has a twin plate because of the twin plate sound it makes when your foot is on and off the clutch. it also has a 92-93 bumper on it.
as of now for it to pass jci i need to get stock suspension which with a little research led me to getting stock dc suspension. all i need to do is swap the da fork from the bottom of the shocks to the dc shocks. it came with the tein coilovers on it but to my surprise they are blown as shit and they are currently fully adjusted to the top and they still sit too low to pass jci thus leading me to get a stock set-up. the pictures are taken with the suspension sitting up for jci.
i’m excited to have this car and in my eyes this is a more original build for this island seeing how my car is the only one here. any how, here are the pictures.
i havent checked on replacement parts yet, but i dont think it should be any easier to get parts here than back in the states. i would think it would be harder actually because of the rarity of the car here.
ok… so this was in front of me the entire time and i’m just now noticing. check this out:
itr shocks
regualr dc shocks
what i have
im not saying that i have itr shocks because i checked 4 other regular integras and the rear set up is the same. i just think thats kind of weird its set up that way, it could be a jdm thing. any how, according to honda tech all i would need to make it work is the lca off the car i got the shocks off of. the fronts are good, the issue is with the rears.
this is the rear lca i need which is on the dc at the junk yard
this is a da lca
i should just be able to swap them out, correct? according to everything i’m finding, only the itr has rear shocks with single bolt like pictured. the regular dc is supposed to have the same fork style as the da. see:
fronts
rears
well im going to go back in the morning and look at the lca and see whats up since its sunday and they are closed. hopefully that will work.
the entire last post is pointless …
Well, no it actually was not pointless for me, and probably for other people who are new here (LOL). So, thanks for the pics, u made one of the things I’ve been wondering about crystal.
i just left okinawa back in august. i spent 6 long years stationed there and i only saw one da the entire time i was there. where in the mainland did you acquire this one if you dont mind me asking?!?!?!?!?
the car is clean by the way:up:
to everyone on this thread thinking that you will be in honda heaven when you hit okinawa you are sadly mistaken. i can vouch for da_all_day. most american drivers on island go crazy and buy skylines, 180’s(nissan 240sx), and toyota mark 2’s to drift. the honda scene is non existent out there even to japanese drivers. most junk yards dont even carry honda vehicles. if they do its mainly a kei car or a van. if you go to a parts store, they will tell you that they have to order it from mainland japan and you are paying a lot of money for it.
i’ll get on that. the interior isnt all that exciting. kinda dirty actually.
Ooh I see, I didn’t realize that the Integra light was in place of the 3rd brake light. Is it just lit up whenever the headlights are on?
For some reason I thought there was just nothing there at all even though I’ve seen those Integra lights.
yes, its on with the parking lights. i dont really like it… =\
but
as of today, the jci did pass. the dc suspension kind of worked. the front didnt work because the diameter of the shock is much larger than the da fork and using the dc fork didnt give enough clearance for the axle.
the rears fit only after grinding down the bushings. they put the micrometer on it and the teins measured 3.9 and the dc shocks measures 4.4 in width. so they had to grind it down until it fit. with the teins in the front raised as high as they go and the stock dc shocks in the back, it sits just high enough to pass. i am going to keep this set up for the next jci ( considering we make it past the 21st ) so i know i will pass. the teins are blown so i am going to send them off to tein to get rebuilt.
but i drove it around today and it felt great. there is definitely a twin plate in there or some kind of crazy clutch. it grabs just like my fd, not as hard, but it grabs. vtec kicks in around 6 and goes all the way to about 8500. the car feels great and im really happy with it.
i went to a goo-net magazine photo shoot today and it went great. they took a bunch of pictures of me with the car and the car and all that. when the issue comes out i’ll be sure to buy it. also, one of the photographers that was there took a bunch of personal pictures of my car. those will be up later when he sends them to me.
but for now, this is what i got. a video of me driving with a super dope angle from the sunroof and some shots of the cars at the magazine shoot. enjoy…
