Old service bulletin: ticking valves

Found this back in the Dec 98 SCC mag (Jun’s 700hp Silvia on the cover). pg 180:

“90-93 non-Vtec models had a service bulletin about ticking valves being caused by bad head bolts (very strange). Apparently replacing the head bolts one at a time with updated bolts will cure that problem”. -Oscar Jackson

Found that interesting.

woah. how does that compare to doing a valve job? and how much money/labor would that involve?

youd think if it was that simple it wouldve been in the teg tips a long time ago…

One at a time? What does that mean? Are you supposed to replace one, put the rest back on, put the head back on, take the head off again, replace another one, put the rest back on, put the head back on, take the head off again, etc?!?! That seems silly.

The article wasn’t specific. I figure once you rebuild, just go quality.
