The lighting is not that bad… it’s kinda hard to do a car shoot with such low ambient light with only two lights. You’re going to need a 3rd to light up the back of the car. Also the background is way too dark… it makes the rear of the car just disappear. Try dragging out your shutter longer or shoot like… 5 or 10 minutes earlier so that you get that really nice orangy/red sky.

Using umbrellas will soften up the light, which worked well for the engine bay shot, but for the rest of them, you’re gonna want a more concentrated to really highlight the features of the car and pick up the juicy reflections in just the right places. You’ll also want to position the lights so that you can’t really tell where they’re coming from to make it look more natural.

As for the angles… that’s just something you’re gonna have to practice on as well.

maybe you’ll get some ideas.

oh and here’s one that i took

See how you can’t really tell where the nights are coming from, there is a nice balance with the ambient light, and the highlights are on the wheels and tires.

Thanks for the tips I will try them out. I dont really understand how I am going to make it look like the car was not lit, when the only way to do that in my mind is to light it from the sun side. Unless you are just talking about trying to keep the big beam of light away.

I hate when you can see where the lights are. But other than that I’ve seen WAY worse and your shots are nice. The car is super sexy too!

Thanks for the comments guys - I appreciate it.
