One thing after another!

I was checkin around under my hood with the car on yesterday and noticed smoke coming off my headers at the bottom, i start lookin around under the car and notice oil EVERYWHERE, not too much but its all over the oil pan and coming out in small drips off the dust cover or whatever that is, so i was told by a friend to must keep filling the oil up for now and it will be ok, he said its just possibly the oil pan gasket or it could be where lube oil express put my oil filter on wrong again, but i hope they wouldnt make the same mistake twice, any feedback on what might be the prob?

could be the rear main seal.

How do you put an oil filter on wrong?!?!?!?!?!?!

It could be a lot of things. Try to describe it better and we’ll see how easy it will be to fix. If the oil isn’t gushing out and actually dripping off the engine like a wet wash clothe, just filling it with oil will be a good stop-gap. Make sure you stay on it though, don’t forget and let it get too low.

yeah, lube oil express definately put it on wrong dude, thats what my mechanic told me when he did my oil change the last time.im not sure how it was on wrong but, yup! OK the oil is not gushing out, its just on the oil pan like sort of dried up but still moist , but i see on the dust cover thingy right under the oil pan theres a little drip formation but its just sittin there gettin ready to drip, you know what im sayin, hope this helps explain

I do know what you’re saying, I’m just not sure what you mean by dust cover. With that kinda oil leak, topping off will hold you over.

well thers this plastic cover that covers the belts underneath, and oil is comiing out of that very little though and its not leaving a spot on the driveway or road so thats good, but i can tell there is a leak of somekind, no what im sayin man?..i hope i better explained it this time:(

Ok, your Timing Belt Dust Cover. Thats a bad place to find a leak. It could be your oil pan gasket, it could be your oil pump gasket. Not good.

Could it be a power steering leak? That’s directly above that plastic cover…

It’s not totally clear where the leak is coming from… but since you just had an oil change, I would guess that the tech didn’t tighten the oil filter enough. And that will drip oil right down on the exhaust pipe.

It could be, but he said it was oil and I’m just assuming he knows the difference between the two.

yeah its definately oil, im going out right now to lift up my teg and check it out, ill let yall know the deal…

ok, so i checked it out, cleaned all around the oil pan and stuff, started the car and noticed no leakage, but im not gonna get my hopes up yet cuz it will probably gradually start leakin again once i start drivin a while, but i noticed alot of fluid aaround the belts so im guessin its from my power steering, but i know the difference between power steering fluid and oil so i think im leakin both, not bad though
