im going to rig some sidemarkers to the inside map pocket of all 4 of my doors so when im loading my kid into the car some retard doesnt hit my open door. what fuse/spare fuse sopt should i tap into to wire the markers to?
Here’s a suggestion for you. Why don’t you get some reflective tap and apply it to the inside of the door. Near the latch on the door, not the body of the car. Some model European cars have reflectors, but there might not be enough space in the door jam to accommodate it.
There is a green/red wire in the driver’s kickpanel that you can use at the negative trigger for your side markers. You get get +12v from the one of the male 1/4" connectors or from the 12 gauge white wire from the ignition harness. Make sure to fuse it with a 5 amp fuse.
I agree with bone_stock_RS get reflectors, it will save you a lot of wiring, otherwise you are going to have to run a power and ground lead into each door for the light.
If you are intent on doing the lights run the power and ground into the door, the grounds can be grounded to chassis once inside the car, the power’s will have to be run to the fuse box location, install a relay connect all 4 power wires to 87 of relay connect a fused line from fuse box park light free pin to 30 and 86 of relay connect the green/red, [dome light ground from pin switches] found at fuse box, make sure it’s the right green/red there are more then one green/red wires at the fuse box, you will need a test light or multimeter to check, to test switch dome light to door, so it comes on when you open a door, the proper green/red wire is the one that tests as 12V+ with doors closed and ground with a door open, make sure you test with drivers door and at least one other door, drivers door is isolated from the rest of the doors by the “ICU” that green/red lead will test properly on the drivers door but will not work with other doors, using that green/red the lights will only work when drivers door is open.94
