this is a repost… no one had responded, perhaps because of the title of the other thread it was in. I’d like some informed opinions…
At the end of a quarter mile I’m at 7800rpm in 3rd gear. this translates to approximately 97 mph, according to some gearing/mph/rpm calculators I found online( here’s one of the ones I checked: http://crx.honda-perf.org/math/ … they don’t all agree on mph)
97mph trap speed in a qm seems high for a DA with a b16a that has had no internal mods(at least not done by me). I guess its possible it was modded before becoming part of the wonderful world of jdm. I guess its worth mentioning that this car does not fall flat on its face after 7500 rpm like a stock b16 seems to, which would suggest some sort of cam upgrade. Also, isn’t an ls trans supposed to make a b16a swap unbelievably slow?
when I ran against a friend of mine with the same car and the same swap, I beat him by about 3 car lengths. Then a 200lb friend of mine got in my passenger seat and I ran the car again, and beat him by about 1.5 car lengths(mostly I pulled ahead at higher speeds, like above 50-55). If you’re reading this and thinking wtf, then welcome to my world. This thing needs to get on a dyn.
Does anyone have any estimation of a realistic achievable qm time, given the info above?? I know about the different variables(driver, elevation, etc). I’m not looking for an exact time, just a realistic approximation( like ‘high 17’ or ‘low 12’ LOL).
wtf is up with this motor?! I’m in northern virginia, if you’re curious about elevation.
edit: I can list some other kills if anyone cares…
car is a 91 ls, b16a swap, i/h/e, removed ps and ac, ls trans.
thanks in advance…
