Hey 98b18 why stick with the eom head gasket? Everyone always tells me this, but no one I have talked to uses or knows anyone with the copper head gasket. I’m building up my engine too right now, but want to use the copper SCE head gasket.
The stock head gasket thickness is 0.76mm thich and the SCE is 0.043, which is about 1 layer of the honda OEM gasket. Copper is suppose to not expand, blah blah. I was thinking to use this since it is the easiest way to increase CR.
I figure that I’ll have 10.24 CR in the engine I’m building. All stock internals. The stock CR is 9.6, with the gasket it goes to 10.24
Anyways, but can you guys help me out with the reasons over OEM vs copper?? Thanks!

Why do you want ur RPM’s so high if your puttin the CTR cams that make power up to 8-85rpm? I was looking into the 403’s too for my non vtec setup. Who are you getting your stuff from?? Your gunna b on the track soon right! Oh and I got some AutoX news for you too. I’ll email yah.

Still have the G2, I’m probably buying a lower mile B18A motor for it and going to start getting into Auto-x, new suspension, bushings etc. Mike K doesn’t sell the stuff, he’s the one that kind of pioneered the Jun 2 intake ITR exhaust setup. As far as crower 403’s go, crower vtec cams are garbage, I rate them as high as I do Skunk2 right now. The non-vtec cams are great, but the crowers have a lot of issues and the 403’s aren’t all that they are cracked up to be. Reason I said to get the mugen head gasket is that it is OEM quality and also if you’re getting a hondata to control everything, you’re going to want more compression than just 10.8:1 which in reality isn’t all that high. With the hondata you will tune out any pinging etc. and have the car running smoothly, I know of one guy who runs 13.5:1 on a hondata, not saying that you should go that high, but you should be in the 11’s on the compression numbers. Mostly talk to Mike about tuning the setup etc. Anyways, let me know if you have anything else.
