Can there be other brake master cylinders from other cars that can be bolted on the DA? I was thinking about the DC.
yes
dc will work
Just remember, there are differences between the abs and non abs equipped car master cylinders. I’m not sure how these differences relate to DC master cylinders…
I seem to remember someone using an ITR master cylinder when they did their abs conversion and didn’t have to change fittings like we normally do. It may have been RyanK? You should be able to search and find the correct info…
I used a JDM itr master when i did my 5 lug swap, now you can use DC master cylinders but you do have to change the booster so it will fit properly, it is a bitch to change just to let you know. I also did change the end of one of the lines so it would fit the master too. I will say this though the itr master clyinder kicks ass
Here’s a link to some specifics: http://technet.ff-squad.com/how-to/5lug.ef-da/ (btw, this is the SECOND site that pops up when you google "itr master cylinder… so this info is incredibly easy to find…)
No benefit to using the itr master cylinder vs the G2 abs master cylinder if you want a 1".
If you started off non-abs then you’ll have to reflare if you use the G2 abs master cylinder. Don’t let the link above fool you… flaring these lines is a piece of cake, just make sure you get a good (not worn out) flaring tool from your local autoparts store, and make sure you test it on some spare lines first.
If you want to use the itr master cylinder then you don’t need to do the re-flaring, but you need to chang the brake booster. IMO reflaring 1 brake line is WAY easier than changing th booster. Boosters are a pain to change, flaring a line takes 5 minutes max.
when it comes down to having bigger calipers it does make a difference. It takes away from the slight squishyness of the pedal, even read the article that you posted up.
I didn’t say there was no benefit to having a larger master cylinder. I said there was no benefit to using the ITR master cylinder instead of the stock G2 master cylinder for ABS vehicles. Both of these master cylinders are 1" and thus both are an upgrade from the stock 15/16" master cylinder found on G2’s w/o abs.
So from what I understand, a G2 Non-abs would accept a G2 abs master cylinder, without changing the booster?
Bump!
Yes it will work. All thats needed is to flare out one of the lines to accept the different fitting for the abs master cylinder.
