over filling engine oil

I have a buddy that just bought a da9 only because it had a vtec engine, durring my inspection I noticed that the dipstick marked the oil level about 1" over its max limit. After pointing it out with a number of other cons to walk away from the car he decided to buy it anyways since I couldnt explain what happneds or why it was bad to be over filled its max limit.
can someone help me break it down to him…

from what i’ve seen, with the oil overfilled it’ll smoke quite a bit and could cause valve stem seals to go bad, but i dunno if that’s correct… id just drain out some oil and correct the level or even better just change the oil

what can happen is f its over filled enough the crank will be sitting in oil, which isnt bad for the crank, its bad for the oil. it will aggitate the oil and it will start filling up with tiny air bubbles, the the oil that is being pumped though your engine is now like 50% oil and 50% air, which is bad for obvious reason

it will also screw up the seals on the piston rings, which would cause it to smoke also.

Over filling oil can be a very bad thing.

As mentioned. if crank is in the oi, oil will get “churned” up and foam, foam does not pump well, [low oil pressure] lack of oil to top of engine is not good.

The biggest problem could be to the front and rear seals, designed to seal in vapor/mist not liquid oil, could result in blown seals, expensive fix. 94
