I have overheating problem whenever the car is at idle at stop lights, but not when running, what could be the problem? And also my steering wheel started shaking whenever I break, but I just replace the rotors and pads, but still a little shake, not much but still noticeable. What could be the problem? Thanks guys!
for the overheating. check coolant level and water pump. shaking try wheel balance mabe an alignment too.
Overheating: Check and make sure your radiator fan is working. To do this, turn the car on. Let it warm up to operating temperature and see if the fan comes on. (it’s in front of the engine behind the radiator). Also check water level, etc.
Wheel Wobble: Double check your rotors, make sure they havn’t warped. Also an alignment and balance would help.

I just fixed this problem. The main reason this is happening is because of low coolant. You’re going to need to open up your radiator and add water. Also, add extra into your resevor. This will let you get away with driving the car like this a while longer.
I fixed it by replacing the lower radiator hose, the thermostat, and eventually the radiator. It was the radiator itself that had the leak.
Just to confim your problem, before adding water to your radiator, turn the heat on high while you’re driving. You should feel hot air. When you come to a stop, the water temp guage will raise while the air coming out of you vents will be cold.
Also, when the temp raises like that, put the car in neutral and bring up the revs. This will help lower the temp again and hopefilly save you sme $$$ down the road.
i’d be willing to bet that if theres a leak…its from the radiator. I have had to replace the radiator in my 90 and 93 tegs …the stock ones have a plastic upper tank (the top part of the radiator…acura calls it the upper tank…i wouldn’t call it that ) The plastic cracks after getting hot and cold over and over for 10+ years. Be carefull driving like this…if you accidently run the car out of antifreeze and overheat…since our heads are made out of aluminum…they will warp!!! not to mention blowing the headgasket.
Radiator replacement is pretty easy on our cars.
I doubt that you are low on coolant. You would most likely know if you had a coolant leak somewhere.
I am betting that it is either your thermostat and/or your radiator cap. Replace both of them and the problem will most likey go away.
As far as the wobble during brakeing… Does it only happen when you press on the brakes??
I would say wheel alignment, but that would do it all the time, or at least at certain speeds.
You should check to make sure your lug nuts are torqued down to 80 lbs/ft each. Uneven torque or overtorque can warp rotors and cause those problems.

Thanks guys! I will try those things. How much would each things cost? Radiator cap, thermostat, or radiator itself? What is the logic behind replacing radiator cap? Where is the thermostat? How difficult it is to replace? As far as breaks, I have the wobbling whenever I press the brake. I will also try to torque it right, because I over looked that whenever I installed the brakes and wheels back on there. My bad ya’ll. Oh ya, why would the temp raises up whenever I stopped. I will also check the radiator fan. By the way my fan is always running after driving. Someone told me because overheats, that is why it is running and cooling. Could it be the thermostat not accurate? Thanks for all your help!
Ivan
You can get a thermostat and radiator cap for about $40 or so.
The reason that it overheats when you are stopped is because you are at low revs, which means that the coolant is pumping slower and with less pressure meaning that the thermostat is not opening under that low pressure… When you start driving again, you are revving higher and creating more water pressure. You have to remember that your water pump runs off of your timing belt to understand this info…

did you check the coolant level? if you check it and its fine…i’d look at the thermostat like BR suggested. If its not fine…hunt for the leak…
i got me a new thermostat. the question is how difficult is it? any one changed theirs before. any suggestions appreciated… please post your experience and things i should know and expect. Thanks!
