So i know this is a very common issue on most 2nd gen integras. But i need some help im kind of stumped on this one. So driving along its just fine keeps temp at half. But at stop lights boom its starting to get hot! I use the heater to kinda of lower it down a bit. Fans wont kick on or nothing at all. Ive replaced the ect in this car previously. Not losing any coolant , no water in the oil so not a bad head gasket haha. Anyone got any ideas what to check first before i throw money at it haha?
Sounds like you may have air in cooling system. I recomend you bleed it correctly with one of those bleeding funnels to completely get all the air out.
Well i did bleed it. It actually was low on coolant. When i stuck my finger in , it had looked full but it took a whole jug almost ! I did check the oil an not milky nor the cap. Im kinda wondering if the head is cracked . Not sure if its a failing head gasket either. It runs good still an no white smoke when driving. Only on cold start up because of being cold. It stays cool now haha. I did check for leaks as well an i dont see anything externally.
Have you checked the relays? I had this issue for a while but then I replaced the engine with a B20 and because the wiring is different, I have it wired to turn on with the car now.
Additionally, it could be that a fan’s motor is dead. Do both fans come on with the air conditioner?
Not at all i changed most of the relays in the whole entire car . I was thinking of doing what you had said. Just have them kick on when you turn the ignition on. I did indeed check to see if the fan motor is done for , but i jumped it an turns on . Turn ac on both of them do not kick on at all.
It sounds like you have the same issue I had before the engine swap, and I never figured it out. I want to say it has something to do either with the fan timing unit or the ICU. The Helms troubleshooting was really involved and I didn’t have the time.
If you go that route, try to get the ones with the pre-punched holes. I think the new ones are just glue bound and they’re difficult to use. I’ve wanted to take my current ones to get spiral bound so they’d lay open flat. It’s so dumb to have a thick manual that won’t stay open…
I just worked on my car the other day and this was the issue i had before locling her in the garage for awhile . Check fuses , and relays if your in California take advantage of the advance auto parts and car quest goin out of business in the start i bought 5 relays for 3 dollars each here attached is relay but you gotta go in store for the price no ordering online anymore
