Pager alarm transmitter question..

I have a pager alarm and wanted to put the transmitter in the rear windshield. Will the transmitter have any effect if I was to extend the wires connecting to it to all the way to the back of the car? OR do I have make the wire as short as possible and closer to the brain of the alarm?

Also, if I want to hook up a battery cutoff switch, can I extend the positive or negative (not sure which cable) wire as long as I want cuz I want to hide the cutoff switch… will the long extension of the positive or negative cable for the cutoff switch effect the performance of the battery?

Make and model of “pager alarm”?

A batt. cutoff switch is not a good idea, you will loose all memory on HU and ECU/ECM, if it is for theft protection, install a switch on the ground to the PGM-FI Main Relay, it will cut power to your fuel pump, fuel injectors, one of the powers for the ECU/ECM and a few engine sensors.:whisper:04

I got a cheapo SCYTEK 4000RS-2W-1 2 WAY PAGING CAR ALARM but it works pretty good. I was just curious if I can extand the transmitter wires to all the way in the back without affecting the function of the transmitter.

Listen to fcm, man knows his shit.

I’ve never heard of that brand of alarm so I cannot comment.

fcm - can you please chime in on this… I would like to extend my transmitter antenna to the back windshield. Will extending the wire affect the functionality of the transmitter? Thanks!

Not sure if length of ant. lead will have an effect, I would extend it with the same gauge wire(s) and try it before you run it.:cross:94

Cool thanks!

Why are you moving the ant to the back window, we install scytek alarms and remote starts at the shop. We put the ant transmiter on the front window and have great range.

I actually did that but all i did was rerouted the transmitter under the carpet towards the back of the car and ended up under the rear seats. Pager still works good no problems. I was gonna extend it but i didnt feel like soldering or crimping at the time.

The reason I did it is because my friends Teg was stolen and had the same alarm with pager. So what they do is rip the panel get to the transmitter wires and cut them. Then your pager isnt going to go off since the cut the wires. Belive me i tried it disconcet the transmitter, let the alarm go off, and then see if you pager goes off.

I wanted to move it to the rear windshield for the same reasons as Sikauto posted. If moved to the rear, it takes the thief longer to get to the transmitter if they’re planning to cut the wires. At least that way, it gives me time to re-arm the alarm one more time if I was too lazy to run out and by re-arming one more time, I would know if the thief is actually in the car if it goes off again… hope that wasn’t too confusing lol :read:
