so, I’ve stripped my interior in my 93 gs-r and removed all the sound deadening material as well. I’m getting close to painting it (aztec green), but when I test-primered a small area, the residue from the sound-deadening material bled through it in seconds (nasty brown poo). I’ll probably end up just going over it with solvent a couple-ten times, but I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this since honda themselves paints over it with no problem. am I using the right primer? (self-etching) any advice/wise cracks would help ![]()
???:werd:
the residue should come off easily with some brake cleaner <aka lazy cleaner, cleans just about anything>. but with the residue bleading right through the paint i dont know. because i just finished primering some areas in my interior and i left little tid bits of sound deadening material and the primer went over it with no problem. im using regular automotive primer i bought from home depot. hope that helped atleast alittle bit.
thanks man, I think I’ll try another brand of primer. I think I’ll also try the brake cleaner seeing it’s a lot cheaper than goof off. ![]()
