I want to paint my brake calipers, and I want to do a nice job. I read the instructions in TEGS TIPS, and i’m goin to do it my taking off the calipers. I’m just wondering you compress the piston, to put the calipers back on?? Also, what degree paint do you recomend?? Is 500 degree enough or should I try to find hotter?? Thank you
i did mine a week ago, i didnt have to take everything apart… all i did was cover up the places where i dont want to have paint… just use a tape… parting everything apart might cause you more troble, but thats just me… i used a brake caliper paint i think the brand was VHT… try looking for it.
re: paint
THos caliper paints are way overpriced. Just go to like autozone and get high temp red engine paint. I got like the 6 or 7 hundred degree one. Looks great, but the only thing that sucks is the fronts get dirty really fast. Anyone know how to prevent this. Is there a certain brake pad that doesn’t get so dang dusty when they wear?
EBC Kevlar pads are supposed to be almost completely dust free. They come in 3 colors, each with different features. Sport Compact Car usually has an ad for them somewhere…
I painted my calipers like a month ago and then had to replace my master cylinder the next day because during the bleeding procedure the guy pumping the brakes was pushing the pedal to the floor. I read on this board after I had the problem that sometimes on old master cylinders that this destroys the seals. So FYI when bleeding the brakes dont push them farther than when their normally used or you’ll be spending more money on a new master cylinder.
i’m doing the same, but i want a bronze high temp paint to paint the calipers with, i don’t know where to get this? can anyonce recommend what i get? let me know, thanks
