umm…I think it looks better with a lip around the top part and glossy.
No one has the square look, i think it might look better. but yeah- will gloss help protect it last longer and such? or do i realy need gloss, because you said that testors transcent candy apple red sucks. I don’t see why and how
OK. I did not use Testors Candy Apple Red for my Tail Lights. I used DIA-WYTE LTD’s Tail Light spray that is specific for painting Tail Lights. DIA’s spray has a nice gloss and will last much longer than that of the Testors spray. In order to make the Testors look as good as the DIA’s spray, you’ll also have to paint a clear coat over Testors. Testors spray will fad and fog. I know form experience. Its your car man, do what ever you like, but as far a spray goes… get DIA-WYTE LTD’s Red Tail Light Spray if you want the job done right.
i guess i’ll find out the hard way :), i already painted them and plan on installing them tommorow, no time for gloss :(.

ok i already painted my taillights red an taped the clear part…now my question is Do i paint the whole thing in clear gloss including the top or should i leave the tape where the clear is and just paint the red area?
Yes
Paint with clear gloss only the area that you painted with the red.

just did my tails.
Hi everyone, I just recently did my tails and i think i used a paint no one has used before.I used Krylon stained glass red translucent spray paint.About 6.00 at “micheals”.Turned out sweet.The best thing about this paint is I didnt need a clear coat.It drys like stock coat very smooth as if theres a clear coat in it.The lights look like they came half red half clear.I painted the outside.
buy clears off ebay.
dont try to open old tails or chrome tape the inside.Waste of time youll probably crack your stocks and hurt yourself.(I tried) I purchased all clear tails off ebay for 43.00 shipped.Pretty cheap.Well worth it now that i have a finished product.Top looks euro clear and bottom looks nice shiny stock red.Tape em up good.
