Painting wheels, how to mask "rivets"

Well im painting my wheels with Duplicolor wheel paint. i remeber there being a trick to mask the fake rivets wish thos little smiley face stickers. the peoblem is my rivets arent flat, they have a raised “bump” in the middle. im thinking ill use vaseline and a small paint brush or something, but then how do i get it off? itll be down in the hole so itll be hard to wipe out. i have a small water sprayer, that you pump up. is there anything i can spray on the vaseline to help get it off, that wont mess with the paint? like simple green or something?

i have SuperClean but itll eat the paint

leave em in the sun. then some simplegreen to cut the grease then warm water (test on inconspicuous spot first)

ok, suppose i test it in a inconspicuous spot and it eats the paint. then im stuck lol.

Why dont you dab some grease on them Ive done that to parts Ive painted and then just wipe it off. If you paint them just let the paint cure really well, if you can place them by a heater so the paint really cures then just take it to the car wash and pressure wash them the grease should come right off. I painted some pieces on my old CRX some years back with spray paint, I actually primered them and then sparayed 3 coats of paint, of course wet sanding bfore each coat with some very fine sand paper. Its been 3 years and the paint still looks really good no chips or anything.

i already workd it out my own way, its tedious but better, i wouldnt be able to get grease or vaseline or anything on the entire rivet with the way theyre made.
