Password JDM bars for the DA
I believe there’s a member here who made his own, and I talked with him briefly about making one for me but I lost contact with him. Personally I’d have no problem utilizing a backing plate on the other side of the firewall–when it goes on, the only thing that’ll get it removed would be a collision resulting in a total loss on the vehicle and me parting it out.
Bah, you didn’t lose contact with me, I just don’t get on here that often.

For reference, here are some pics of said tri-bar:

Here is a pic of my rear lower tie bar I fabbed up:

BTW they are prototypes, the welds SUCK much “stuff”. I really need to get either a better wire welder, or fix the POS that I have now.

BTW, the access to the firewall bolts is through the cowl, you remove the cowl, and you can get to the other side of the bolts. No need to get on the car to remove them, though you do have to remove the wipers to get the cowl off. I am considering making them for cost, but with today’s society, I do not want to get sued because some guy put it on his car, and did something bad.
AF, you can hit me up on AIM: btfh70 or email: christian@hybridconcept.net

As for the backing plate I used, its there, you just cannot see it, and the nuts are welded to it, then the plate is riveted to the firewall so you can take the tri bar off, without losing the plate in the cowl.

Dude. We have a winnar.

Got you added to my buddy list. I’m gonna go sit in a tree for the rest of the day though, so I’ll hit you up if you’re on sometime after sunset.

i’d buy one
i was going to make one, but theres no way in hell i could make a better design than that.

dang…i love that bar!!! good work man!

thanks man. The next one will look nicer.

cool. Im online 24/7 if i don’t answer right back, Im probably just sleeping.
Anyone else that wants info about the bars, or whatever can add me to their list.

If anyone wants to see it in person, there is a dfw meet in arlington this saturday. Check out the dfw meet in the meet section of the forums.

Btw, if i do make the bars for others, i will need at least one other ‘test subject’. I am not going to assume my frontend is perfectly straight.

OOH! OOH! Miss Clifton! Ooh! Miss Clifton! Miss Clifton! Miss Clifton! Miss Clifton! Miss Clifton! Miss Clifton!

I hope you watch Family Guy, otherwise now i just look retarded.

But I’m up for it. If you want a review within the next year, odds are you shouldn’t go with me (and I won’t be offended if you pick someone else)…I got a long road ahead on my build, and moving next year ain’t gonna speed things up. :giggle:

family guy is amazing!!!:werd: wish i had the time to drive down to texas for a meet…but yeah definetly not high on my priority list.

my test subject needs to be local, so I can fit the bar to at least 2 cars, so there is a better chance that figment will not be an issue. I would not want to ship a product you would have to modify. I know at least one person from the meet here that wants one, so I will probably use him for testing.

The next one will probably require the pass fuse box to be relocated. Anyone see that as a problem? If so tell me so I can design around it.

I should probably make a new thread for this. OP, sorry if i hijacked your thread. I just realized I probably did.

If I do make a new thread, I will post the link here. Though I won’t make a new thread till I get done with the next prototype.

talk to member “almostboosted”. his name’s Jake. AIM is “RollinOnRotas” and his email is farmtruckin68@yahoo.com

I didn’t get any PasswordJDMs but I did get Megan front and rear strut bars and both lower tie bars.

looks flimsy

Am I the only one thats heard of http://www.explicitspeedperformance.net/StrutBars3.html
They have all that shit made already and if they dont they will make it for you with a 2 week turnaround. One of the dudes there was going to make a solid c-pillar bar for me for $120 I think but I got a roll cage so I cancelled order. They dont even advertise c-pillar bars but I told him what I was looking for and he said he would look at the DA car he had in the back and make me one.So they have a DA for development use.

Yeah, Explicit Speed is cool.

Their rear strut bar is just like the old skool Oglesport bar, which means I’m getting one. They do make the 3 point front bar, & a member on here just made a thread to see the interest in a group buy for them. I’m trying to get in on the but, cause it’d be sweet to have a 3 point, even if this is just my daily driver.

Corniest quote ever: “Get yours today! JDM is IN!”

personally, i dont like the look of square tubing as strut tower/bracing bars like that…

my custom tri bar is tubular, and is thick thick, heavy, but the strength of it & look of it i like alot better than theirs.

^^ How about some pics
Isnt square tubing stronger than round?Less flex?

Not flimsy at all, I tried to bend it with all my might and not even a bend. Btw, anyone got some kyb, tokico, or skunk2 shocks for sale? Dont have to live in Texas, I’ll pay shipping as long as I can afford it. Sucks having tokico springs with stock shocks.
