Warning: A lot of text, but there are pics! Alright so I’ve had my LS-Special for about a year now. I’ve had 0 problems out of it, just regular maintenance and she’s been perfect, besides little quirks that come with age (water leak, a little creaky suspension, leaky cam seal, faded paint). It was garaged, maintained by a certified Honda mechanic for the past 10 years, came with a stack of records, pretty much the most reliable you can get without finding one that has like 50k miles. I’ve always wanted this year Integra, and I found it bone stock and elderly man driven and I knew I had to get it, it was perfect.
Anyway, I’ve been talking to a guy I met at a car meet who has a silver RSX type S. It’s completely bone stock, got 170k, kept up on maintenance, driven by an older gentleman, pretty much the newer equivalent of mine. To get to the point, I have the opportunity to buy the car when he finds a four door vehicle. I don’t want to take out a loan, and I don’t think I could save up for the 6500 asking price in that time (I’m in college). The DA is my baby, and I HAD plans for it (Tein coilovers, new bushings everywhere, paint, security), but this opportunity is so nice. To get into a newer vehicle, and it’s my dream car besides a DA. I used to have an RSX-S that had a lot of work done to it and I LOVED it.
I know a lot of you have a lot of mods done to your DAs, but if you had a stock one, would you sell it to help pay for a stock RSX Type s in very similar condition? In my experience, you rarely get to own a 25 year old car that’s in the kind of shape mine is in. I’m worried I’d never find a similar DA. They’re hard to find in good shape, on the other hand, a stock RSX is pretty rare too haha. Here’s where I’m at - use my income tax to get coilovers and bushings for the DA, or stow it away to help for the RSX. Sorry about the long post, but I had to give some back story. Any advice or thoughts are welcome. Thank you. Now for pics!
Nice DA! I decided to make a comment because I have gone back and forth with this several times over the past few months.
I love my 91. It is so much fun to drive, and is downright sexy going down the road. But sometimes I wonder if I would be happier driving a newer car, with power everything etc. The bottom line is I love my car, and I will not sell it unless I absolutely have to.
Ultimately it boils down to what you want from a car. One thing I do know for sure, you will miss it when it’s gone. So I see it like a really good dog. Sure puppies are cuter, but I wouldnt trade my old girl for anything. Anyway good luck on the decision!
On top of the expense of the rsx-s, you would probably want to revamp the suspension on the rsx-s also. Thus, even more money. You already have a reliable car to finish college. Just finish up and then you can buy anything you want after everything is done.
Having gone through what you are going through many moons ago, I would enjoy the college life to the fullest. Cars will always be around
I say keep it, RSX’s aren’t that rare. You will definitely find another one. If your in college, enjoy your DA and get whatever you want in the future when you’re financially better off (hopefully). No car is worth strapping yourself for.
As said above if spending for the RSX is going to impede college partying and banging sluts keep the DA. If the DA is your daily I would upgrade to the RSX, however if you have another daily and the DA is just a project then keep it. Old projects are cooler than new projects as rule.

Thank you guys so much for all the responses! Those are some good points for keeping the DA. I agree, an RSX is probably not worth strapping myself for right now, thus leading to more stress. I could make the DA a really fun car. I do love it so much. I can wait on an RSX, and they’ll be cheaper in a couple years anyway. Which leads to another question: if there was an essential ONE or TWO things you would do to a completely stock DA, what would you do? The most vital thing to really compliment it. Suspension? Intake and header?
