Pilot and Throw out bearing Question !?

Okay so normally I replace important components such as these when I have already gotten myself into the internals of something, but im a little tight on cash right now and I just spent 250 on another tranny and im about to spend about 250 on axles aswell. First off the car is a 1990 GS manual with 118,900 miles . My problem is that 5th gear is completely gone. So I have already gotten another transmission with 125k miles on it and I plan on swapping it in soon, along with the axles and a stock clutch that I have laying around with plenty of life left on it. When I have everything apart I plan on resurfacing the flywheel aswell. So with all of this information, my question is would you go ahead and replace the OEM Pilot and Throw out bearings with this low of mileage or would it be okay to leave them in there. If I replace them, I want to go oem, so more mula before I can make this all happen. The throw out bearing on the 125k tranny that I just got doesn’t have any play and works smoothly, but I wanted to get opinions. I’ve never heard of anyone having issues with their Throw out bearings going bad, paired with a stock clutch. Normally the clutch just wears out.

Thanks!

p.s. when is feedback returning? lol

you’re in there…replace everything you can while you’re in there…get a clutch kit, whether it’s upgraded or oem, and rear main oil seal.

it’s a peace of mind that those things are sound and things you wont have to touch until the clutch goes out again.

Good stuff man! Thank you for reminding me about the Rear main. That’s a good one, and I like to have all of the parts that I need ready, so no running back and forth to the store.

Agreed, replace the bearings and the rear main if it looks like its leaky. THe throwout bearing and clutch pilot bearing is about 80 shipped from hondapartsunlimited.

I JUST replaced all that stuff as well. Why? Because the old throwout bearing ear ripped off and ate up the clutch and pressure plate while it was at it. It would be far more expensive to replace if the old throwout bearing failed. Don’t forget the Honda Urea grease and best of luck to ya.
