piston order?

i know the piston order is 1342 but is that from the left or right of the engine? i’m doing a valve adjustment and at top dead center i can put the feeler gauge threw the far right but i thaught that was #4

You are right about the piston order. It is 1342.
Here is a diagram for you.

This is if you are standing at the passenger side and looking at the engine.

Or from the front
(4)(3)(2)(1)
You could have followed your plug wires though and got the same result.

And if you don’t understand that, your #1 piston is at the timing belt side of the engine.
