I just recently picked up a B18C block and I’m mating it with a B16A head. I’m wondering if anyone knows the compression that I’ll be at with this setup? Also, what pistons should I put in to get the highest compression possible on pump gas? Thanks
Your compression will be around 9.8:1. With JDM ITR pistons, your compression will be right at 11:1. If you go with CTR pistons, you’ll be at 12:1, which in my opinion is too high for pump gas. The most I would run on pump gas is 11.6:1. Hope this helps.
Thanks. So what kind of piston do you think I should run to get the highest compression possible on pump gas? I was thinking about getting the Spoon balanced ITR pistons…they cost as much as JDM ITRs anyway? Thanks.

your compression won’t be any higher or lower. ITR = ITR.
Yup…Zoom’s right. JDM ITR pistons be Spoon or stock JDM are still 11:1 CR pistons in a B18C with PR3 head. If you want slightly more compression, get a Mugen head gasket in addition to the JDM ITR pistons. That will put you at about 11.5:1. Hope this helps.
Thanks. I know the compression would be the same, Ijust wanted to know if the Spoon pistons (since it’s balanced) would be worth getting? I was planning on getting a Spoon 2ply gasket because it’s supposed to give you an extra .1 in compression over the Mugen. I was also planning on getting Spoon cams with ITR valvetrain. Do you think that should be able to hold 9000 RPMs? Iv’e noticed that my car tops at 8300 right now with the ECU. But, my friend with JUN valvetrain can hit at least 8800. What do you think this setup should run?
