Planning on Painting interior

I dyed my carpet to black, I just want to make the whole thing black everything!!! what paint should I use and where? I wanna know what type of paint(vinyl/plastic) to what items and what kind(matte/gloss) to what so it looks nice and smooth I don’t want it chipping either. Please help, I was just going to buy all black interior items but I can’t find any body to sell me any!

i wouldn’t paint it… but thats just me, the guy that had my car before me painted the interior. chipped off, looked like crap. i threw it all away and got oem black interior. just my .02
dyeing carpet turns out good though, i dyed mine and i love it! almost too black lol

I don’t know about the Plastic Painting idea, I’ve seen done before tho.
But, I just don’t know about it holding on in the long run tho?
Friend of mine did remove his carpet for paint (removing other items in car was a pita-if you ask me) and it is holding on strong, I like the new black look.

Carpet painting idea is good.:whip:

Painting Plastic for the long run - I don’t know?:worry:

I have black carpet, I dyed it… I just want to know whats the best way to paint it because you can’t paint anything good… You just have to do it right. I would MUCH rather buy new interior parts, but I can’t find a damn person that has any at all… Its so irritating

I would continue to check post in the for sale section.
I see them come up a lot.
Or, check E-sh**. or, passwordJDM.com or even jdmshit.com.
You’ll see them.

ok

Or even, a junk yard, pick-a-part location.:bump:

I tried “A-Reliable(YOU PULL IT), ABC, LOTS OF RANDOM JUNK YARDS, and noone has anything”

I think I can offer some insight here. I had a stock tan interior on my black DA. I painted the entire interior black over 5 years ago. I used DupliColor Vinyl Dye, it is a spray paint but supposedly is a sort of dye as well, who knows. Anyway, that stuff has held up great on the vinyl parts over the 5 years I’ve had it. No fading at all, a little chipping where my g/f lets the lap belt hit the lower part of the panel but nothing you can’t touch up every few years. Come to think of it that part is plastic anyway, the vinyl parts are all holding up great.

Which leads me to my next point. As for plastic that paint hasn’t held up so well. I’ve gotten some chipping in high wear areas, but not bad considering the paint isn’t made for plastic and it has been over 5 years.

Over the last couple years I’ve been repainting any plastic parts I take off with Krylon Fusion Satin Black. It claims to molecularly bond to plastic or some shit, again who knows. So far this stuff is holding up great on all the plastic parts. I would have used it originally but when I was doing my interior they didn’t have Fusion in anything but high gloss black.

So to re-cap, Duplicolor Vinyl Dye (flat black) for the vinyl parts and Krylon Fusion (satin black) for the plastic has worked for me. Both seem to match well and are very durable. I’m sure there are better products out there but I’ve used these and I’m happy with the results.

Thank you bro I will try that. Much appreciated what you think about putting a non gloss clear coat on it?

You could try a clear coat if you wanted. Personally I’ve never had much luck with rattle can clear coats. I’ve never used it on a car interior but where I have used them it seems like even non-gloss ends up adding some amount of gloss to the finish.

I’d be interested to know the result though if you do end up using it.

+1 on the krylon fusion

:iagree: Krylon Fusion kicks ass… clean and prep the plastic well and there’s no reason it shouldn’t last ya a long time.

yep…i just finished redoin mine…i did duplicolor for vinyl doors as well n krylon for all the plastic…came out really good…no chipping or crackin…really teh best paint out there right now especially for dis…as well as calipers  n engine paint…

There is an interior painting system available. I can’t remember the name off hand, but a few companies have them.

There is a thread on it here. Search hard. I will do the same 'cause I want to paint my interior too.
