Player = no sound?

My player in the car used to always work fine till now. The player woud now always stay on but no sound will come off. It will only come after a while when i sometimes hit a bump. It played around with me when i touched the harness so i replaced that and its still acting the same way. According to my brother, the player is still on without the ground wire connected (when ignition is on ac). I’ve searched around and can’t find any wires grounding… what could i do to get the sound back?

run your ground…power…and ignition from deck to car harness. Pretty sure you have a short somewhere along the lines, or just a POS headunit you have there. Take you deck to any bestbuy or pawnshop and have them test to see if you deck is fine. :smiley:

thanks, sulewsky… ill run the wires again and see if i can come up with anything.

All power/ground/speakers arein the stock radio harness, use them.

It sounds like HU, [player] is going into protection mode, [internal amp turns off] due to a short on the speaker leadsor the speaker terminals themselves. 94

sorry, i have a hard time understand a bit. thanks for the help though. what do you mean by “arin th stock radio harness?” how do i use them?

Check your speakers to see if one is grounding out touching the door maybe. I say this because mine worked good then one day went out I hit a bump it work then go out an i found it to be one of the speakers was ground out at the speaker side not the dack side

it still wouldnt work when the front speakers were unplugged. thanks.

so i tried the stock player today and it worked. except when i used my pioneer. my pioneer comes on but no sound at all. like i stated before, it played around when i touched the harness. could that be the problem or the player itself?

so i tried a good working player from my moms car and still had no sound coming out. only when i use the stock player. all wires are plugged correctly. should i just direct the player to the stock harness and forget the harness from the player to the stock?

Sounds like a short of a speaker or speaker lead, [OEM HUs do not have the protection mode, so will work with a short].

Also make sure you have power on both power leads in OEM radio harness… http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/HA-Wiring.asp 94
