Pleaaaase Help! Short Circuiting in 1990 Integra

Hey!

First time post! I’ve been surfing quite a while and haven’t been able to find anything. Hopefully you can help
G2 Integra (been parked for 8 years) and given to me by friend (I’ve been working on it for a couple months and the list gets longer…)

When I put a NEW battery in, sparks fly, 70A battery fuse blows while 50A fuse remains intact that leads to ignition switch system, so I assume a short circuit somewhere…

The funny thing is, when I had the old, 100% dead battery in, it would start fine with a boost and would remain on so I could drive it. However, with this new battery, if I short the fuse, sparks fly from where I’m shorting.

Has anyone had experience with this, or can direct me to wiring diagram/possible causes?

This is the last thing I wanted… Was supposed to bring it to the shop to get wheel wells welded today…

Just as an update, I figure it’s somewhere in my alternator circuit because of how the 70A is blowing, and not the 50A. In that case, does anyone know any common problems? Or is it common for an alternator to short circuit?

Google does not seem to be producing anything when I search “Alternator Short Circuit”, or millions of other variations…

Try to disconnect the alternator and reapply battery. I had the same problem and a diode shorted inside the alternator
