please help... Amp not working right

I hooked up my amp and sub in my car, but for some reason my amp would not turn on. Then I noticed that when i turn off the head unit my amp would turn on. So I unplugged the remote , and now the amp stays on all the time. Correct me if I’m wrong, I always thought that an amp cant turn on with out having the remote wire powered. Does this mean that my amp is defective??

Thanks in advance.

yes sir your correct, and it’s prolly fried

Thats what i thought, but the weird part is that the amp works fine with the remote unplugged. The only problem I have is that I can’t leave it on all the time because it will run down my battery.

if it was fried wouldn’t it just not work??

p.s. thanks for your input

well hold on maybee you got the wires crossed some how try switching it up and see … also make sure your wires are correct

If you have warranty on the amp take it back, if not wire in a relay…

#30 to 12V+ constant, can be from amp main power.
#87 to amp rem. input.
#85 to ground.
#86 to rem. output from HU.
#87a not used.

Check current draw off batt. with everything off to make sure that the remote input to amp is not too high. :corn:94
