I was just cleaning the engine compartment the other day and noticed these plugs just sat there doing nothing. They were kinda tucked out the way. They were sat near the headlamps but not plugged into anything.
My headlamps, fogs, indicators etc all work correctly so i can’t think what these are for? Probably a stupid question, but i’m a DA noob and know nothing about their electrics.
The one shaped like an upside-down T - looks like a headlight plug for one-pieces. Do you currently have one pieces installed or do you have USDM headlights?
That is indeed odd. Being that its an import, there might be variations on accessory plugs that come stock… But the only thing I’ve ever seen that use a plug like that would be headlights. Have you tried tracing the wires to see where they end up??
I haven’t traced them back because i didn’t have the time - i was just doing a bit of under-hood cleaning before i clocked on at work and i found these plugs just before my shift started.
I guess tracing them back is the only way to find out what they are. But if these aren’t powering my headlamps, i wonder what is?
I shall have a closer inspection as soon as i can and let you know. I would have looked today but it hasn’t stopped raining hard for the last 10 hours. Damn English weather.
The car is a Japanese import and has one-piece headlamps. I thought they looked like headlamp plugs but since everything works, i’m a bit confused…[/QUOTE]
Take a test light or multimeter to the leads and see if they have power/ground or if they get poweror ground when turning the ign. to on/run/start or head light switch on. 94
I think you can tell by the mounting brackets in the picture that the headlights are NOT stock headlights. When doing conversion from stock to One Piece headlights there is a wiring change (depending on headlights purchased). Mine for instance - stock lights had separate plug for parking lights and blinker - but one piece do not (lose parking lights keep blinkers - so now extra harness/plug in engine bay).
could it be that the jdm H4H bulbs went out and they needed to add an usdm H4 harness for the us bulbs to function. both harness mybe spliced into each other. I know that JDM h4h bulbs arnt legal or sold in the us, at least in your local auto parts store or dealer only aftermarket.
yeah he does have the jdm 1pc since you can tell the headlights are plastic not glass like the usdm 3pc.
