Popping in front suspension when turning on uneven ground

It seems like recently I have been hearing a popping noise coming from the fron suspension when I pull out of my driveway or pull in. The road is uneven at this location. The car drives fine otherwise. I hear 4 pops. To me it sounds like both sides of suspension poping when going over the uneven ground and maybe pops back in place after im on even ground again. I changed all the bushing to energy suspension, sitting on Skunk2 coileve sleeve type, 14" stock rims. I’m not dropped crazy low like alot of people. I’m really not sure what this is. I have had 4 other civics and and never had a noise like this. I’m going to jack the car up in the next few days and take a good look. Maybe something is loose. Has anyone had this problem before? It almost sounds like my axles popping but thye look like they are fine. I’m going to look for signs of the boots stretching or something. Thanks for any help and suggestions.

First check your sway bar links, then your suspension mounting bolts: upper c-arm joints, lower and upper shock mounts, then look at your coil sleeves and see if there is wear.

the link bushings can wear causing and bang or pop. the upper a-arm bushing bolts come loose and lets the bushing rotate causing a pop (ones by the springs 14mm kinda hard to get to), and the sleeves can just be moving up (get caught on spring and it pulls the sleeve up) then when it comes down bang. if all looks good I would check your subframe mounting bolts, although very rare.

good luck

That’s pretty much the protocal that I was going to do. I changed all the bushings except the sway bar end links and the mounting. I had a little clunk when I first got the car and one of the bushings were missing. I just replaced it with one from the junkyard until I replace them. The clunk went away when I hit a bump. I am just going to go through it all again with a socket set to see if anything is loose like you said. I was taking a look at my axles on my lunch break (looking down through the engein bay). It kind looks like the boots have moved a little almost like a side is about to pop off. First I will drive as if im pulling into my drive way and when I hear the pop park and take a look under the car. Move the car foward and whne I hear the second pop take another look.

I don’t think im that low

axles could be the issue as you said, they will pop even more after awhile on any surface when turning and accelerating… then eventually if left unrepaired they will pop going straight.
if it only pops when you’re accelerating id say its the axles

Are you axles busted? If all the grease is gone and it’s been that way for a while, it could cause that popping.

I replaced my end links and bushings and I still get the popping just before I come to a stop (its only lower speeds that I will hear it and usually while on the brakes). I am 99.9% sure its the busted axle on my driver side since I’m positive that’s the side it’s coming from (my tie rod and upper/lower ball joint are also F’ed). All bushings and axle on passenger side are newer and not broken.

Check your outer tie rods as well. Mine were shot and made funky noises on uneven surfaces.

Forgot to give an update.

I went under the car and took a look. Both my sway bar end links were shot. I was missing some of the bushings on the pass. side end link. I was changing all my bushings anyways so I just happened to order Energy Suspension end links the week prior. I installed the new bushings and no more popping. Everything works great. Energy Suspension makes a good product.

I hear a binding noise too when I make a full right turn then go back to straight it pops on the left side I’m still. It sure what it could be should I just change all the bushings like how you guys did?
