I’ve read through about 6 posts now, and none of them seem to be exactly my problem.
The car:
91 LS non-abs
Automatic
177k
Initially the car starts up fine and fast idles fine. The RPM’s stabilize at ~500rpms. However, when you are coming to a stop with more than 30% braking, the car goes down to like 50rpms and tries to stall. (It actually stalled 4 times today while driving) Now, when you are coming to a stop, if you throw it into neutral and continue to brake, it still stalls out.
I changed the check valve out with a good one from my black DA, and it didnt do anything.
I replaced the vaccum hose to the booster as it was aged and cracked, and it didnt do anything.
I temporarily plugged the vaccum hose to the booster, and the RPM’s went up to about 700. Plugged it back on the booster and went down to 400.
I’ve done the Helm’s and hayne’s method of checking the booster, and it passed both ways.
The pedal feel is quite mushy and non-existant as compared to my black DA. But the black one has ABS, and i’m not sure if thats how its supposed to feel.
Really starting to piss me off.
Any suggestions?
