so i came up with an idea for a kill switch but i dont know how i would wire it up. i dont know what i would want to kill with it yet either. i have a kill switch on my fuel pump already. anyways, i have the power mirror switch from an 87 legend. those mirrors have built in defrosters. you push the button and it turns on the defrosters, u push it again and it turns them off. what i was thinking is hook my clutch switch (the one that tells if the clutch is in or not) up to this. the integra one has 7 wires in the back. the legend one has 9. 6 of the 7 wires from the integra switch are the same colors. please help me figure this out. i have pics also, thanx

Please don’t take this the wrong way. That sounds/looks like a great idea but, shouldn’t you be keeping this to yourself?
I mean, wouldn’t this be giving away one of your “secret” kill switch spots? Those are just my thoughts.
ya but i have nobody else to ask and its not my only means of security. i have an alarm, kill switches, clutch lock, quick release etc. this wont be the only security measure. just another one to slow people down
I am not familiar with the switches, but if the extra leads are for the heaters and the rest of the leads are the same along with the plug, [Integra plug plugs into Legend switch] and the Legend switch works in the Integra, then yes you can use the extra leads as a momentary switch.
A simple one, [assuming the 2 extra leads are an input and and output] would be to ground one of the leads and connect the other to the input of the “Clutch Interlock Switch”, [disconnecting the stock input to the CIS first].
You would then have to press the mirror switch and step on the clutch to start the car.94
ya i plugged the legend switch into my teg and it has the same plugs because it plugged right in and the mirrors go up down left and right with the legend switch on the integra harness. where could i find diagrams for the switches?
You should not need a diagram, there are only 2 leads left, test them, they will either have a 12V+ output, a ground output, be normally closed, [continuity between the leads until you press the switch] or normally open, [no continuity between the leads until you press the switch].
Any one of the above can be made to work, the easiest will be the “normally open”.
Test the leads and let me know. :hmm:94
theres 2 more leads but 3 of the colors do not match up. does it matter?
As long as the switch works it does not matter, for the kill switch all you need is one or both of the extra leads. 94
OK, I know this is off topic but it’s been bugging the crap out of me!
Crazyboy, how did you get your photobucket pics to enlarge like that? Hell, how does one even post large photobucket pics? I can only post little pics like these:
Is it because they are cell phone pics, or am I doing some thing wrong?
Once again I apologize & appreciate any help you can give.
:getsome::manual:
Corniest quote ever: “Get yours todaY! JDM is IN!”
everytime i post cell phone pics they come out small. but whenever you click “generate html” on photobucket. then you copy paste the “clickable” for message boards
fcm: i have a red lead, a blue one with a white stripe, and a red one with a black stripe. how do i test these?
With a multimeter.:whisper:94
i dont have one. the closest to one i have is a test light. will that work? am i just checking for power when the switch is in or what?
If you are going to do electrical work on your car you need a multimeter, you can get one for $20 at Radio Shack.
With a test light you can test for power, [12V+], you can also test for ground, instead of clipping the ground clamp to ground connect it to 12V+, if it lights up when you probe a lead the lead is supplying a ground.94
And if you don’t have a Radio Shack (I know of at least one place I goto that does not have one for ~50 miles) just about any auto parts store sells them. Walmart has them (at least the ones I have been to do).
A cheap multimeter is always better than a cheap test light.
Just don’t get the bright idea (like my brother did), and try to test the amps on your car battery. Quickest way to kill one.
